Infrared

Life has been very busy recently, and my output on DIMI and here has suffered. But I’ve still been shooting.

I just got back from a weekend at the beach and wanted to post one of the pictures I took, an IR shot with my converted 350D of the full moon over the bay at Portsea.

Moon over the bay in infrared

10 Seconds, f3.5 100ISO, 30mm focal length using a Canon 28-135 IS lens (IS off for tripod use)

My recent experiences and experimentations in photography have led me to reflect on photography as an avocation.

Here are a couple more night IR shots I took.

Enjoy.

Tonight I was out testing the Pentax K100D for image noise and decided to try out my converted for IR (by MaxMax.com) 350D for some nighttime IR photography. I was impressed. The results are below.

Here are a couple of the shots I took with my Canon 350D/Rebel XT on the weekend when I was out doing some more testing of the 5D. Overcast weather gave exposures on the 350D, with a Hoya R72 filter, of 8 seconds at f5.6 and 400ISO

I got first light today with a Canon 5D camera and a Hoya R72 filter. One of the first shots is below. Forget about autoexposure in IR with the 5D. You need manual exposure.

I was out today testing a whole new lot of cameras. This is a shot taken with the Panasonic FZ30 and a Hoya R72 filter.

I also shot this parkland with hirise behind in IR using a Canon 350D/Rebel XT, a Hoya R72 filter and an exposure of 15 seconds at f5.6 and 100ISO, using a Tamron 18-200mm lens.

I’ve been noise testing cameras, both in IR shooting and normal, and took this shot using a Hoya R72 filter and an exposure of 2 seconds at f2.8 and 80ISO.
